Brew and Go travel coffee maker (Black and Decker)

As any frequent traveler will tell you, consistency is an important thing. That is why business travelers often stay in the same hotels, eat at the same restaurants, and bring along some of the comforts of home. For me that means my travel Brew and Go travel coffee maker from Black and Decker. This device lets me brew my favorite coffee from all over the world where ever I might be staying.

Why do I take it with me? Well, as I said, consistency. Also, it is highly portable and easy to pack. If you have never owned a travel coffee maker, then you probably don’t know what I mean. You are probably thinking about your coffee maker at home and how you could possibly fit that into a carryon bag. Well, travel coffee makers are much, much smaller than ordinary coffee makers. My travel coffee maker, for example, measures 9 by 7 by 6 inches, and it can easily be stored in my travel on bag.

Probably the best thing about my coffee maker is that it came with its own stainless steel coffee mug that holds 15-ounces, over two cups of coffee! That is more than enough coffee for most users. Well, it’s more than enough for me! I also like that fact that it has a permanent coffee filter, which means that I don’t have to visit markets in foreign lands looking for paper coffee filters.

My Black & Decker travel coffee maker also boasts all of the standard features you would expect to find, like automatic shut-off, which is life saver for me because I often leave my hotel room right after I’ve had my coffee. And as forgetful as I am, I know I’d just end up leaving the coffee maker on and probably burn down the hotel.

It is also quite fast and fills the mug to the brim in less than four minutes. The coffee is always piping hot and delicious. In fact, there’s really nothing I dislike about my travel coffee maker from Black & Decker.

Black & Decker Brew 'n Go coffee makerEditor's note

The Black & Decker Brew 'n Go is the most popular travel coffee maker around. It is a very simple coffee maker that makes one cup of coffee directly into the travel mug that comes with it. It uses a permanent filter which does give a somewhat richer taste to the coffee.

Overall, this product has very good customer reviews. However, there are some complaints that seem to come up repeatedly in the reviews. Probably the most worrying issue is that several users reported that their coffee maker seems to turn itself on at random times! So it's best to keep it unplugged when not making coffee.

Some people also find the coffee not hot enough and others complain about coffee grounds getting splattered in various places inside the coffee maker and also finding their way into the cup of coffee.

Having said all this, most owners are very happy with their Black & Decker Brew 'n Go coffee maker.

Not Just for Travel
by: Karen

Just after my husband and I married over 23 years ago, I found a Black and Decker single cup coffee maker. Since I don't drink coffee, my husband felt it wouldn't make sense to make a pot of coffee for just himself so he had planned to drink instant coffee. When I brought the coffee maker home, he greeted it with a lukewarm reception, that is until he tried it! He loved the coffee maker so much that now we have one in both of our homes and our camper. I keep an extra one in a closet in case it breaks however our original single cup maker is still going strong after more than 23 years and both of the others are at least 10 years old!
