Proctor Silex 12 cup coffee maker: Model 46831

Let me start by saying that I like simple things. Anything with too many buttons, functions, and lights only confuses and frustrates me which is why after almost 3 years I still can't manage to work the DVD player. So when my old coffee maker broke a couple of years ago and I went hunting for a new one I was determined to find something that was simple and basic.

I finally found a Proctor Silex 12 cup coffee maker, model 46831, that was about as basic as you can get. You simply put the amount of coffee you want in the basket, fill the pot with water and pour it into the water tank, set the pot on the heating element and switch on the single switch. Coffee is ready in 10 to 15 minutes. The only way things could get any simpler is if my husband actually made the coffee which he does quite often!

This coffee maker has no timer, no pause button and no automatic off switch which is the main reason I like it. I also like the fact that it has smooth clean lines which makes it easy to clean and despite my knocking the pot against my kitchen faucet too many times to count, it has not yet chipped. With my old coffee maker I was replacing the pot every few months.

Another thing I like about this particular coffee maker is the screen is the basket is tightly woven so when I forget to buy coffee filters I can still drink my coffee without having to chew on grounds that slipped through the screen holes. Not once in two years have I ever gotten grounds in my coffee. I usually don't rave about kitchen appliances but I really do love this coffee maker.
