Senseo Coffee Maker

There is nothing like a steaming cup of espresso or a glass of latte to start the day off right. If you are anything like me then you function a lot better after you have had your first shot of caffeine. When I get up in the morning the first thing I make for, even before the shower, is my Senseo coffee maker that when use with the coffee duck is as good as any other espresso machine. Now I know that an espresso coffee maker is nothing new, almost every home and every office has one, but I still get a kick out of loading and switching it on every morning. The Senseo HD7850/60 is reasonably priced and comes with a warranty that covers parts and performance.

One of the things I like best about my anodised silver Senseo is that it is just as happy to come up with a steaming latte as it is with a short black or café solo as the continentals like to say. Not every espresso coffee machine has the settings to produce different types of espresso, but the Senseo does. Phillips makes the Senseo machine and it is designed to give you the cup of fresh coffee you want in double quick time.

The machine uses individual pods, so you just pick the pod that will give you the type of espresso you want with a quality crema layer. The Senseo’s 1450W powerful boiler will give you two cups of steaming coffee in the space of sixty seconds. Coffee machines can be a real pain to clean, but not so my Senseo. The machine is made up of detachable parts that are easy to take off and clean and which are dishwasher safe. Altogether I wouldn’t change my Senseo for any other espresso coffee maker.

Editor's note

There are many different models of Senseo coffee makers.
Here are pictures of two of them - Senseo SL7810/65 and Senseo SL7832/55 (Supreme).

Senseo coffee makers belong to the category of single serve coffee makers. These machines are very convenient to use because they make one cup of coffee at the time. The do not make espresso - just coffee. However some people who have never used an espresso machine may call the an espresso maker because the coffee comes with a nice layer of foam at the top.

A Senseo coffee maker uses Senseo coffee pods, but there are also several ways to use your own coffee: Coffeeduck, Ecopad, Presto or the Perfect Pod Maker.
